Intially,the film was to release on the same day as Shah Rukh,Deepika’s Chennai Express. Produced by Ekta Kapoor, Once upon a time in Mumbai Dobaara has music by composer Pritam. The trailer revealed a lot of action and drama especially between Aslam and Shoaib. Imran Khan plays the role of Shoaibs sidekick,Aslman,vying for Yasmins heart. The cast is completely new and besides Sonakshi and Akshay,it stars Imran Khan as Aslam and Sonali Bendre as Mumtaz Khan. There have been many gangster movies after this like its own sequel, Shootout at Wadala etc but none even come close and feel like cheap imitations of it.
After watching the trailer for Mumbai Saga, I realised how good this movie still holds up and yet to be topped. As evident by its name, the movie is a sequel to ‘Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai’ that was released in 2010. The movie commences from where the previous film ended with Shoaib Khan (Akshay Kumar) being the reigning don after successfully assassinating his mentor as well as his predecessor,Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgn). Sonakshi said that Once Upon a Time In Mumbaai Dobara is the perfect release to come after her intense portrayal in Lootera. The Lootera actor is good, as she invariably is, but has very little scope for showing off her talent.Lootera girl Sonakshi Sinha also stars in the crime-thriller as an aspiring actress,Yasmin who seems to beīlinded by her affection for the all-powerful Shoaib. Emraan Hashmi’s quest to outdo his mentor Mirza was effectively portrayed by the versatile actor whereas Imran is a total misfit as a gangster who prefers to stay loyal to his guardian Shoaib, even after getting beaten up by him in the climax for snatching away his ladylove Jasmine (Sonakshi Sinha). While Ajay was superlative as Sultan Mirza, Akshay as Shoaib, the new ruling mafiosi, is as overbearing as his character demands he be. The comparisons between Luthria’s two representations of the underworld and its ruling dons based in Mumbai are inevitable.
